At Victoria Hospice Society’s 1997 annual general meeting, a decision was made to establish the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation to raise funds to support Victoria Hospice programs and services, and to steward those funds in a professional, responsible way.

This funding is critical to the programs of Victoria Hospice, as it provides 40% of annual operating costs. Community donations help pay for counselling programs, volunteer services, our Palliative Response Team, education and research, capital equipment purchases and other programs not supported through the health care system.

In addition to supporting annual operating costs, the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation is working to create a stable financial future for Victoria Hospice. Our endowment funds continue to grow, providing regular annual income. We also encourage individuals to include Victoria Hospice in their financial and estate plans. These thoughtful gifts may be designated for current or future use, and in many cases provide significant tax advantages for the donor.

For almost 28 years, Victoria Hospice has been an integral part of our community. The Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation is honoured to work within such a compassionate community. We are grateful to every donor for helping Victoria Hospice provide exceptional care for our families, friends and neighbours.

Victoria Hospice volunteer Tom Burdge baked 279 rounds of his famous Christmas shortbread last year, raising almost $1,700 for Victoria Hospice! Thanks to Fairfield Thrifty Foods and Shelbourne Fairway Markets for supplying all the butter for Tom's baking. Special thanks to Tom for your ongoing dedication and support!

 

Thank you also to the BC Provincial Employee Community Services Fund for their longterm support of Victoria Hospice.  Their generosity helps to provide  a wide range of compassionate and skilled counselling services for patients and families facing loss.
